We will definitely darken the doors of Georgia Blue again!
The smell of authentic Southern cuisine greeted us as we walked in, as did the hostess who engaged me immediately with a genuine, "Hey, y'all! Did you come hungry?" along with a pat on the back.
Considering we picked this restaurant based on Google reviews, I felt sure we had picked the right place.
Food was good, it's definitely southern, grits, red beans and rice and fried chicken. Service was not so good, our waitress was new and that wasn't the bad part. There were so many of her more experienced colleagues just walking around and didn't even try to help her, or us for that matter. We had food brought to us twice that didn't belong to us and what did get brought to us wasn't complete. Goodness....
Great food, fun atmosphere, timely service!
Criticism: kids' drinks are not included with their meals. A tad spendy at $2 each so we got waters and compromised with the $1.50 scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Now, the BBQ smells divine - smoky, sweet with a touch of heat - but the blue plate is the way to go. The Vardaman sweet potatoes were especially delicious. Can't go wrong with their fries either - yum. We have 3 kids and our picky 6 yr old chose the catfish nuggets and LOVED them. The fried pork chop was a home run - juicy on the inside, crunchy on the outside. Fried green tomatoes were the BEST we have ever had. (And we LIVE in Mississippi!) Complete your meal by splitting the pecan cobbler ala mode - delectable.
Scrumptious food. Especially the apps. Creative to say the least. Worth a try for sure. I was there Fri night and enjoyed the live performance...nice happy hour spot. String drjnks
Great restaurant with a southern flair! Friendly service and they now have a house brand bourbon and vodka.
Don't order the BLT. It has 2 small pieces of bacon. Wasn't like that the last 3 times I ordered it and the manager was unwilling to try to rectify it. One if my favorite places to eat but doubt I will go back.
